Thank U, Next | Book Tag

Time for another book tag lovely readers! I was tagged by Once Upon a Bookshelf , so I’m excited to delve in ❤ This tag was created by thisstoryaintover who based it off of Ariana Grande’s hit song Thank U, Next. Now enough of this prelude!

1. Name a book that you said “thank u, next” to, i.e. DNF’d (did not finish).

This book seems to haunt my existence. But yes, sadly I couldn’t jump on the bandwagon with this series. I tried with the first one, blindly hoped with the sequel, but alas I couldn’t torture myself any longer. There wasn’t a plot or world building, and I found the romances tacky and the characters unbearable. If you’d like further details I do have a review up already.

For a brief stint between elementary and middle school I wasn’t reading as much, but then this series came into my life and reintroduced me to my love of reading and the age range YA as a whole. I’m definitely due for a reread though.

• Name a book that taught you patience:

Again with the series’. There seems to be a pattern here, but in the period between middle school and high school I lost sight of my love for reading as well. Somehow the Fifth Wave ended up on my lap, and I devoured the book in a day and the rest of the series within the week. Unfortunately, the series got worse with each sequel until eventually I had enough pent up frustration to try and find someone on the internet ranting about it. Funnily enough, it was through this series that I actually discovered Booktube and the overall bookish community.

Pretty much any book that I’ve loved has taught me pain, because apparently I’m a masochist. I’ve five starred all of these, so if you’re interested please check them out. They’re all important in some way or another ❤ I also have reviews up for The Little Prince and Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock.

3. Name a book that you loved at the time of reading but in hindsight you do not like as much anymore but which you still learned some other quality from.

Before high school, there wasn’t a single book I thought badly of. I wasn’t a critical reader and thought that everything deserved five stars. So I pretty much don’t trust my judgement on anything I read before I was 14 or 15. I do think it’d be kind of fun though to start a series in which I reread older YA and figure out if they still hold up.

4. Name a book you’re currently talking to, i.e. have the hots for.

I can’t explain it but I just have a feeling I’m going to love this one. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t disappoint me.
